Changes on the 2022 Sea-Doo Models

What’s New in the 2022 Sea-Doo PWC Lineup?

While most of the 2022 models in the Sea-Doo PWC lineup come without any significant changes, the Canadian manufacturer surprised the market with some unexpected developments, the most important of which are the following:

Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty and talk about these changes in detail!

2022 Fish Pro Family

There’s no question that one of the most important changes in the 2022 Sea-Doo lineup is the renewed Fish Pro family.

Until the previous model year, Sea-Doo only offered one Fish Pro model, but for 2022 the brand has announced that there are two brand new models in this lineup.

This means that if you are looking for a PWC for fishing, you can choose from the following three Sea-Doo models:

  • Sea-Doo Fish Pro Scout 130: MSRP $13,899
  • Sea-Doo Fish Pro Sport 170: MSRP $15,899
  • Sea-Doo Fish Pro Trophy 170: MSRP: 17,799

Are you wondering what the differences are between these models?

In a nutshell, the Scout is the entry-level model in this family and comes with an affordable price tag.

Compared to its bigger brothers, it comes with a significantly smaller GTI platform and has a less powerful 130 HP engine option.

In contrast, the Sport and the Trophy are built on the larger and more stable ST3 platform. Both of these crafts come with a 170 HP engine.

Regarding features, each 2022 Sea-Doo model is equipped with:

In addition, the more advanced Sport and Trophy models are marketed with some more advanced features, which are as follows:

  • More stable ST3 hull with an extended rear platform
  • More powerful 170 HP engine option
  • Angled gunwale footrests
  • Front cup and rod holders
  • Larger fuel capacity (18.5 gal.)
  • Larger storage capacity (total: 39.6 gal.)

The key advantage of these models is their larger rear platform, which offers an extra 11.5 inches in length. This extended platform is equipped with two sets of LinQ attachment points, which can accommodate plenty of LinQ accessories!

What’s more, the flagship 2022 Sea-Doo Fish Pro Trophy comes with some key features like a swivel fishing seat and a quick-conned livewell. The latter is an integrated pump designed to constantly deliver fresh water into the cooler to keep the bait or the catch alive.

Another game-changing feature on the Trophy is the innovative “modular swivel seat.” This special seat is actually the rear part of the regular seat, which can be converted into a convenient fishing seat in seconds. As the name suggests, it has the ability to turn 360 degrees!

The Trophy’s standard features also include a convenient anchoring system strapped onto the side of the footwell and dual batteries to keep your electronics charged.

On top of that, a large full-color LCD display is also available on the Trophy as an option.

It seems that with these new models and innovations, Sea-Doo wants to get the most out of the skyrocketing PWC fishing segment!

2022 Sea-Doo Pontoons

In addition to the introduction of the expanded Fish Pro series, the manufacturer also revealed its all-new pontoon boat family.

Although Sea-Doo had produced several iconic jet boats like the legendary Sea-Doo Speedster and the Challenger, the company abandoned this market for many years. But to the delight of many fans, Sea-Doo boats are now making their comeback in 2022!

The all-new Sea-Doo pontoon boat family is being released under the brand name of Switch and contains three different models:

  • 2022 Sea-Doo Switch: MSRP $17,999 – $37,409
  • 2022 Sea-Doo Swith Sport: MSRP $23,999 – $39,234
  • 2022 Sea-Doo Swith Cruise: MSRP $26,999 – $42,619

These innovative vessels combine the power of the proven Rotax engines with the stability of a regular pontoon boat hull. What a great pairing!

Since each model is available in three variations, you can choose from no less than nine different Sea-Doo pontoon boats this year.

The Panoramic Bluetooth Display is Available on More Models

If you prefer larger LCD dashboards, the good news is that Sea-Doo’s full-color 7.8-inch wide LCD screen is available as an option on the following models:

  • 2022 RXP-X 300
  • 2022 RXT-X 300
  • 2022 Fish Pro Trophy 170
  • 2022 Wake PRO 230

While it’s still standard on the Sea-Doo GTX Limited 300 as it was in the previous model year.

This extra-wide display can be connected to your phone with the exclusive Sea-Doo GO app. This application can provide navigation, weather forecasts, and music, but you can also use it to plan your rides and share them with other Sea-Doo GO users.

On top of that, the screen shows your calls and messages, meaning that you don’t have to take out your phone from the glove box all the time!

iDF On New Models

The innovative Sea-Doo iDF (Intelligent Debris Free) system that debuted last year found its way into the majority of the 2022 models. This unique system is intended to change the direction of impeller rotation to unclog the intake with a 12-second burst.

The iDF system had a bumpy start with a few malfunctions, but it seems the manufacturer made some upgrades and most 2022 Sea-Doos are already available with iDF.

Which models are these exactly?

  • 2022 Sea-Doo GTI 130
  • 2022 Sea-Doo GTI SE 130
  • 2022 Sea-Doo GTI SE 170
  • 2022 Sea-Doo GTX 170
  • 2022 Sea-Doo GTX 230
  • 2022 Sea-Doo GTX 300
  • 2022 Sea-Doo GTX Limited 300
  • 2022 Sea-Doo Wake Pro 230
  • 2022 Sea-Doo Fish Pro Scout
  • 2022 Sea-Doo Fish Pro Sport
  • 2022 Sea-Doo Fish Pro Trophy

Yes, you read correctly, the iDF is already available on the GTI family as standard (except on the GTI 90).

2022 Sea-Doo Lineup

Apart from the above-mentioned innovations, the rest of the Sea-Doo fleet has remained basically unchanged. All we get on the other models are a few new color schemes and higher price tags.

Therefore, the entire 2022 Sea-Doo lineup contains 20 different PWCs and 3 pontoon boats:

  • 2022 Sea-Doo Wake 170: MSRP $12,499 (up: $200)
  • 2022 Sea-Doo Wake Pro 230: MSRP $16,499 (up: $700)
  • 2022 Sea-Doo Fish Pro Scout: MSRP $13,899
  • 2022 Sea-Doo Fish Pro Sport: MSRP $15,899

  • 2022 Sea-Doo Switch Cruise: MSRP $26,999 – $42,619 (Pontoon boat)

Contrary to expectations, the Sea-Doo Spark and Spark TRIXX families don’t have any improvements except new color combinations. This means these models have been marketed for no less than eight years without any significant changes.

But with the appearance of the Yamaha JetBlaster, it seems Yamaha wants to compete with the deservedly popular Sea-Doo Spark TRIXX. This step may also force Sea-Doo to revamp its entire Rec-Lite series soon!

The new color schemes of the basic Spark models are Reef Blue/Manta Green and Lava Red/Orange Crush, while the TRIXX models are available in combinations of Dazzling Blue/Black and Lava Red/Black.

When it comes to the Recreation category, the good news is that the advanced iDF system is already available on nearly all GTI models, except the entry-level GTI 90. Regarding colors, the GTI 90 and 130 come in Reef Blue/White, while color schemes for the more advanced SE line (GTI SE 130 and 170) are Coral Blast/Black and Neon Yellow/Black.

Surprisingly, the entire 2022 Sea-Doo GTX lineup can be purchased exclusively in an “Eclipse Black” color scheme. This family includes the GTX 170, GTX 230, as well as the most powerful GTX 300. And all of them come with the optional iDF and sound system.

The flagship touring Sea-Doo, the GTX Limited 300, is being released with all available bells and whistles like the 7.8-inch wide color display, iDF, iBR, and a 25.3-gallon easy-access main storage compartment. This amazing machine comes in a Metallic Sage/Liquid Titanium color scheme and has a hefty price tag of $18,299.

This wouldn’t be a complete 2022 Sea-Doo lineup review without mentioning the purpose-built tow sport Sea-Doo “Wake” series. As in every year, the basic Wake 170 comes with the GTI hull, which features a black color, while the top deck gets a new lively Neo Mint paint job.

Its bigger brother, the Wake Pro 230 is built on the larger ST3 hull with the same Neo Mint color as its deck. This model utilizes a supercharged 230 HP engine and is available with a 7.8-inch full-color display and iDF as an option.

Last but not least, let’s take a closer look at the performance category. The GTR 230 is offered in a Millenium Yellow in combination with a 230 HP engine option. In contrast, the most powerful RXP-X and RXT-X are powered by a 300 HP 1630 ACE engine and is available in Millenium Yellow or Premium Triple Black color combinations.

Conclusion

The new Sea-Doo lineup is less exciting than last year’s when the manufacturer introduced the innovative iDF, the panoramic full-color multi-display, and the redesigned RXP-X 300.

But Sea-Doo doesn’t disappoint the market and revealed some new models and innovative features this year as well, such as:

  • All-new Fish Pro line is revealed with three models and innovative features
  • Sea-Doo Switch pontoon boats are debuted
  • The 7.8-inch wide full-color display is an option on more models
  • iDF is available on more models
  • New color schemes and higher price tags (prices go up about $200-$700)
