Electric jet skis are becoming more and more prevalent these days. So it’s no surprise that many new manufacturers are entering this market, including Florida-based Cigarette Racing. This company is known for its high-performance offshore boats but its fans were shocked when it announced its all-new “E-JET” personal watercraft concept.
If you want to learn more about this new electric ski, you’ve come to the right place.
We at JetDrift have compiled all you need to know into this Cigarette Racing E-JET review!
Cigarette Racing E-JET Review
Cigarette Racing is one of the most well-known boat manufacturers in the U.S. The Florida-based company produces high-end offshore racing boats built with outstanding quality. But to the greatest delight of PWC enthusiasts, Cigarette Racing will soon enter the personal watercraft market.
After some previous rumors, the company has finally surprised its audience by revealing the all-new E-JET PWC. But instead of a real prototype, only a series of eye-catching computer-generated renderings were shown at the 2022 Miami Boat Show.
Based on these pictures, the Cigarette E-JET will be built wth full carbon fiber construction along with some black and red design elements.
Its top deck and the motorcycle-like saddle have been inspired by Sea-Doo’s first suspension seats.
This revolutionary deck and seat configuration debuted on the Sea-Doo HX and was carried over for many other XPs, including the XP Limited and the fuel-injected XP DI.But unlike these vintage Sea-Doos, the seat of the E-JET doesn’t feature a shock absorber as it’s integrated into the rigid top deck. Also, it looks like this machine will be much bigger than its vintage 2-stroke predecessors.
The aggressive design also forces the engine towards the front of the machine. Therefore, the engine of the Cigarette E-JET will be situated in front of the rider.
The ski also borrows some design elements from the famous Italian Belassi Burrasca.
This is not a coincidence, as Cigarette Racing is designing the E-JET in collaboration with Alberto Mancini Yacht Design and Navigazione Generale Italiana (NGI).
The only drawback of this top deck design is that it features many sharp edges and corners. Although these elements give the machine a modern look, they can be dangerous for riders in many ways.
Since this design is just a concept, we hope that these elements will be softened when the machine reaches production.
The futuristic E-JET comes with many innovative features and advanced systems as well.
In a nutshell, the key features of Cigarette E-JET are as follows:
- Front and rear lighting
- Dual mirrors
- Rear grab handle
- Dual HD displays
- Reboarding step
- Collision avoidance system
- Full-carbon hull and top deck
One of them is integrated into the handlebar head and the second one is in front of the rider.
Engine?
According to The Watercraft Journal, the Cigarette E-JET will be available with both an internal combustion gasoline engine and an electric engine.
The latter will offer a 2-hour riding time with a full charge, but the 2-minute “quick charge” option will give you a riding time of 30 minutes.
The advertised top speed of the Cigarette E-JET with the electric motor setup is 64 mph, while the gasoline engine is 75 mph (even though the USCG’s speed limit for PWCs is 65 mph).Besides the optional electric engine configuration, another remarkable innovation of the E-JET is its dual jet nozzle. The two nozzles shown on the rendering seem to suggest that two electric motors will power the electric E-JET.
So far, jet skis have been exclusively powered by a single engine and jet pump assembly, and with good reason. The pump and the engine of ordinary skis are connected by a direct driveshaft, which ensures a simple connection.
Duplicating the propulsion system seems like a very wild idea, as it would also double the risk of error.
Prices?
As one may expect, Cigarette jet skis will arrive with very hefty price tags. The advertised price of this innovative ski is a whopping $40k!
The manufacturer is serious about entering this new market and are already accepting pre-orders for the E-JET. Despite the high price, customers have paid more than $2.5 million in deposits, BoatBlurb reports.
If the Cigarette E-JET is ever built, it will definitely set a new standard in the PWC industry.
Thanks to its luxury features and outstanding design, the E-JET may be a good choice for yacht owners. Electric water toys do a much better job on yachts due to their cleanliness and easy maintenance.
Conclusion
Cigarette Racing is well known for its offshore boats, but it seems that the company is now serious about entering the PWC market. The first Cigarette jet ski, the “E-JET” was revealed at the 2022 Miami International Boat Show. However, the company only displayed some conceptual renderings instead of a real prototype.
This all-new ski is designed from scratch and has some Italian roots as it’s being built in collaboration with Italian yacht designers. It also comes with many innovative features, including an exposed full-carbon hull and top deck, dual HD display, and LED lights.
Regarding the power source, the ski will be available with regular gasoline and full-electric PWC engines.
So, it’s safe to say that the Cigarette E-JET is positioning itself as a high-end luxury PWC line.
Fingers crossed that it will find its way into production!
