We at JetDrift have compiled all you need to know into this Sea-Doo GTR-X 300 review!
2024 Sea-Doo GTR-X 300 Review
The Sea-Doo GTR-X 300 is the successor of the discontinued GTR-X 230 manufactured from 2017 through 2019.To the greatest regret of many Sea-Doo enthusiasts, the GTR-X couldn’t get the 300hp engine option until 2024.
This is no surprise since the manufacturer reserved this power source for high-end models like the RXT-X 300, RXP-X 300, and the GTX Limited 300.
Fortunately, the introduction of the new 325hp engine allowed the GTR series to get the 300hp variant, and the GTR-X 300 was born.
Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty and talk about the features of this ski in detail!
Sea-Doo GTR-X 300 Hull
Just like any other member of the GTR family, the GTR-X 300 is also built on the small GTI platform
based on the plastic-reinforced Polytec Gen 2 hull, which has been around since 2020.
The body of the GTR-X 300 is completed with a race-inspired top deck, which borrows some DNA from the RPX-X. It comes standard with the Ergolock saddle, knee pads, and the X-package.
Regarding dimensions, the GTR-X 300 measures 130.6 inches in length, 49.2 inches in width, and 43.4 inches in height.
You can expect the dry weight of the ski to be 813 pounds with a sound system and 794 pounds without it.
It’s equipped with the standard 18.5-gallon fuel tank and has a total storage capacity of 42.5 gallons, including a 2.3-gallon glovebox and a 40.2-gallon front storage bin.
Sea-Doo GTR-X 300 Engine
As we’ve discussed, the Sea-Doo GTR family was not available with the 300hp engine option, since this power source was exclusively available on the high-end models.
But everything changed in late 2023 when the manufacturer revealed its all-new 325hp engine.
This new unit virtually downgraded its 300hp sibling into a midrange power option, which finally found its way into the GTR series.
Rated at 300hp, this supercharged Rotax 1630 ACE HO 300 was introduced on the 2016 RXP-X 300 and RXT-X 300. It was carried over to later 300hp models without any significant changes.
In a nutshell, the key features of this power source include:
- Name: 1630 ACE HO 300
- Type: 4-stroke, Inline-3
- Power: 300hp @ 8000 RPM
- Supercharged and intercooled
- 12 valves with hydraulic lifters
- Electronic throttle body
- Single over head camshaft (SOHC)
- Water-cooled exhaust system
- Dry sump lubrication system
- Rotax multi-port fuel injection
- Closed-loop cooling system
- Electric starter
Sea-Doo GTR-X 300 Features

It can also be opted for with the Tech Package including the fully integrated audio system, the 7.8-inch panoramic display, and a wide range of LinQ accessories. In summary, the standard features of the GTR-X 300 are as follows:

Sea-Doo GTR-X 300 Performance
When it comes to performance, the GTR-X 300 won’t disappoint. It ensures aggressive acceleration and a (limited) top speed of 67 mph.
According to the manufacturer, this ski offers the lowest cost per HP value in the PWC marketplace.
This is no surprise since this ski is built on the affordable Polytec GTI hull and lacks some (not important) gadgets, which is reflected in its price tag.
Yet, this small platform offers very playful rides and surprisingly good rough water performance. Many riders claim that this GTI hull can outperform the deep-V ST3 platform in choppy conditions.
The well-designed, proven Rotax 1630 engine and propulsion of the GTR-X 300 can be upgraded with a plethora of aftermarket mods.
With some performance parts, the GTR-X 300 might even be able to beat the RXP-X 325.
This is because the former is $2,200 cheaper, which leaves you plenty of space to upgrade the ski.
Therefore, the GTR-X 300 will more than likely be one of the most popular Sea-Doos of the 2024 model year!
