Sea-Doo Ergolock System Review
Let’s face it, one of the major drawbacks of older jet skis was their inadequate ergonomics.
They were typically engineered with straight wide seats and completely flat footwells. This simple design didn’t ensure the right connection between the machine and the rider.
Consequently, riders were often unable to get the most out of their machines.
But everything changed in 2012 when Sea-Doo revealed its all-new RXP-X 260.
This machine not only utilized the entirely new T3 hull, but its top deck also incorporated the innovative Ergolock system. The latter has three main components, including:
- Sea-Doo Ergolock Seat
- Sea-Doo Ergolock Footrests
- Sea-Doo Ergolock Handlebars

Sea-Doo Ergolock Seat
The key element of this package is arguably the innovative Ergolock seat.
Unfortunately, older Sea-Doos had come with wide straight saddles, which were far from ideal. These poorly designed saddles limited your legs’ ability, which restricted body movement in the turns.
Sea-Doo’s award-winning design team shaped a revolutionary PWC seat from scratch to solve this issue. This new seat moves the rider forward and virtually glues them onto the top deck.
Unlike its straight wide predecessors, the Ergolock seat utilizes an hourglass shape. It’s very narrow in its middle and features two large bolsters for adequate back support.
Also, the front edge of the seat is extended with Sea-Doo Ergolock knee pads on both sides of the deck.
This revolutionary design allows you to squeeze the machine with your knees, resulting in a motorcycle-like experience.
By 2018, this one-piece Erogolock seat was replaced by the more advanced Modular Ergolock Saddle.
The rear portion of this new saddle is removable, offering more space on the rear deck.
Sea-Doo Ergolock Footrests
The well-designed Ergolock saddle is completed with canted footrests mounted in the footwells.
Since jet skis turn on a flat surface, the riders have to counterbalance the G-forces with their upper body and outer foot. Unfortunately, this can be tiring for muscles and feet.
This is where Ergolock footrests come into play.
Thanks to their canted design, they ensure a more comfortable riding position. This helps reduce fatigue and pain in the feet and upper body muscles.

Sea-Doo Ergolock Handlebars
The Ergolock system wouldn’t be complete without the Adjustable Ergonomic Steering (A.E.S.).
As the name suggests, this steering system allows the rider to adjust the rotation of the handle grip and the position of the handlebars. Thanks to this design, owners can tailor the handlebar position to their body size and riding style.
A.E.S. handlebars were also equipped with several controls, including:
- iBR lever
- Engine Start/Stop button
- VTS button
- Operating mode button (ECO/Sport/Learning key mode)
- Throttle lever
- Mode button
- UP/Down button
- Engine cut-off switch
