Honda AquaTrax F-15 Hull
The 2009 AquaTrax F-15 borrowed its body from its turbocharged brother.
This fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) Honda PWC platform debuted on the 2008 AquaTrax F-15X and was carried over unchanged to the 2009 season.
It measured 133.9 inches in length, 49 inches in width, and 42.3 inches in height, meaning that it was almost eight inches longer than the predecessor F-12.
What’s more, it was significantly heavier, since the dry weight of the ski was 813 pounds, which meant a noticeable 68-pound weight gain.
Its spacious top deck housed a 21.4-gallon front storage, a 1.7-gallon glovebox, and a 1.5-gallon rear storage.
Riders also appreciated its 18.5-gallon fuel capacity, including a reserve of 4.1 gallons.
Honda AquaTrax F-15 Engine and Pump
While the predecessor F-12 was powered by a 1235cc, 135hp engine, the F-15 was designed with a much larger power mill.
The heart of this ski was a 4-stroke, naturally-aspirated, 1470cc, 4-cylinder Honda marine engine rated at 153hp.
You could find the turbocharged version of this engine in the more advanced F-15X, which delivered 197hp at 6500 RPM.
These engines shared the same, freshly-designed 155mm Solas jet pump, which replaced its outdated 147mm forerunner.
This pump was predominately redesigned for a higher performance. The diameter of the jet nozzle was narrowed while the three-blade stainless-steel impeller was located toward the rear end of the pump.
This ensured a better water flow, which was enhanced even more by a top-loader-style intake grate.

Honda AquaTrax F-15 Top Speed and Performance
Even though the F-15 wasn’t as powerful as its turbocharger variant, its performance was more than sufficient for many riders.
Under ideal conditions, the ski topped out at 55 mph, 10 mph slower than the F-15X. Its acceleration was also less aggressive, especially out of the hole.
Riding at full throttle, its engine burned about 12 gph, so its 18.5-gallon fuel tank offered a riding time of one and a half hours.
Its raised bond line and wide bow ensured dry rides while the thick rub rail helped prevent dock damage.
Thanks to its extended dimensions and heavy weight, the F-15 sat deep in the water, which translated to outstanding stability even with passengers.
In the turns, the ski remained predictable, producing a safe, smooth riding experience.
The performance of the F-15 was also linear within the entire powerband, which made it a perfect tow PWC. Besides watersports, it could be used for many different activities like touring, or even fishing.
One of the few minor problems of the AquaTrax F15 was the absence of mooring cleats on the deck. Its low-positioned handlebars were also uncomfortable during stand-up riding.
Aside from these minor design flaws, the F-15 was a perfect 3-seater cruiser PWC.
