How Much Oil Do Sea-Doos Take? [Oil Capacity Chart]

Almost every Sea-Doo engine takes between 4.8 and 5.3 quarts of engine oil, of which 3.2 quarts can be changed. The only exception is the Rotax 900 ACE engine on the Sea-Doo Sparks, which has a total oil capacity of 3.6 quarts. It requires 2.1 quarts of engine oil (w/ filter) during an oil change.

How Much Oil Does a Rotax 1503 4-TEC Engine Take?

The earliest 4-stroke Sea-Doos were manufactured with the Rotax 1503 4-TEC engine, offered in both naturally aspirated and supercharged configurations.

Labeled as Rotax 1503 4-TEC NA and Rotax 1503 4-TEC SC, the total oil capacity of these engines was uniformly 4.8 quarts.

An oil change on these engines required 3.2 quarts of oil (with filter.)

How Much Oil Does a Rotax 1500 HO Engine Take?

The Rotax 1500 HO was a slightly modified, 230hp successor of the supercharged 1503.

When Sea-Doo introduced the 1630 ACE, this engine was reserved for top-of-the-line models. Their mid-range brothers got the de-tuned version of the supercharged 1503 4-TEC SC, labeled 1500 HO.

Just like its predecessor, the Rotax 1500 HO also took 3.2 quarts of engine oil with a filter change, but its total oil capacity was 5.1 quarts.

This engine was only used in a couple of early 230hp Sea-Doo models including the RXT 230.It was replaced by a de-tuned, 230hp version of the Rotax 1630 HO ACE.

How Much Oil Does a Rotax 1630 Engine Take?

The Rotax 1630 engines uniformly require 3.2 quarts of engine oil with filter replacement. However, the total oil capacity of these power sources is slightly different.

You can expect the total oil capacity of the supercharged Rotax 1630 HO ACE (230-325hp) to be 5.3 quarts while its naturally aspirated version holds 5.1 quarts.

The latter is named Rotax 1630 ACE and delivers 130-170hp, depending on the model.

In contrast, the supercharged version is rated at 230, 300, or 325hp.

These 1630cc triple power mills are the most commonly used Sea-Doo engines these days.

How Much Oil Does a Rotax 900 Engine Take?

The tiny Rotax 900 ACE engine takes 2.1 quarts of engine oil with a filter, while its total oil capacity is only 3.6 quarts.

You can find this engine in all 60 and 90hp Sea-Doo Sparks, as well as the discontinued GTI 90.

Interestingly, this engine was based on the Rotax 600 ACE twin-cylinder snowmobile engine.
