Jet Ski Acceleration Comparison Charts [Sea-Doo vs. Yamaha vs. Kawasaki]
You can expect the 0-30 mph time of a stock jet ski to be in the ballpark of 1.5-3.5 seconds. When it comes to 0-60 mph times, flagship supercharged models can do it in 3.6-5 seconds, while many of their smaller siblings cannot reach such speeds.
If you want to find out more about the acceleration of the most popular jet skis and compare them head-to-head in one chart, this post is for you.
For your convenience, we at JetDrift have compiled them under one roof!
How Fast Can a Jet Ski Accelerate?
Rec-Lite
The latest jet skis are often classed into different categories, and the smallest models are labeled as “Rec-Lites.”
These entry-level runabouts are powered by relatively small, 60-110hp non-supercharged engines that can accelerate these tiny vessels from 0 to 30 mph in about 2.4-3.6 seconds.
Interestingly, the slowest-accelerating jet ski right now is the Sea-Doo Spark with the 60hp engine option (0-30mph in 3.6 sec.).
Its larger brothers with the 90hp engine, like Yamaha EX WaveRunners can reach 30mph in about 2.4 seconds.
Recreation
Recreation jet skis are often referred to as the mid-sized models since they are positioned halfway between the Rec-Lite and full-size classes.
These skis typically enjoy 100-200hp engines that are usually naturally aspirated.
Entry-level models in this class offer almost the same performance as Rec-Lites due to their heavier bodies.
If you are looking for something more powerful, you should take a close look at the 170-200hp Recreation skis.
One of the most popular machines in this class is the Yamaha VX HO, which can hit 30 mph in less than 1.8 seconds.
Another great Recreation jet ski is the Sea-Doo GTI SE 170, which can accelerate from 0 to 50 mph in under 5 seconds.
Luxury/Touring
Even though they are designed with comfort and great capacities in mind, Luxury/Touring jet skis also offer great performance.
This is no surprise since they share their platforms and supercharged engines with the Performance class.
As an example, the FX Limited SVHO can go from 0 to 60 mph in about 5 seconds. Its faster Canadian competitor, the Sea-Doo GTX Limited 300 can do the same run in 4 seconds.
Not bad from a touring jet ski!
Performance
The fastest-accelerating jet skis are arguably the Performance models.
They typically house the most powerful supercharged engines available, which crank out 230-325hp.
However, some of them can be opted with a naturally-aspirated engine. One of these exceptions is the Yamaha GP HO, which is a lighter version of the VX Limited HO.
Thanks to its innovative ultra-lightweight NanoXcel 2 hull material, the GP HO can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.
In contrast, supercharged Performance jet skis can reach this speed in less than 4 seconds while they top out at 65-67 mph.
The supercharged Yamaha GP SVHO and the Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 have 0-60 mph times of 3.8 and 3.6 seconds, respectively.
Which Jet Ski has the Fastest 0-60 mph time?
The world’s fastest accelerating jet ski title is claimed by the extremely powerful Sea-Doo RXP-X 325. Powered by the 325hp version of the Rotax 1630 ACE engine, this ski can hit 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds out of the box.

For your convenience, we’ve provided the acceleration times of some popular jet skis in one list.
Please consider these numbers ballpark figures, since the performance of a jet ski is dependent on many factors like the load and the environmental conditions.
