Sea-Doo Horsepower Specs By Category
For better identification, Sea-Doo breaks down their models into a few clear categories. Let’s check these families one by one by their performance!
Rec-Lite
When it comes to the Rec-Lite PWC category, it’s safe to say that Sea-Doo brought this category to life in 2014 by releasing their first Spark models. As PWCs became larger over the years, the market became hungry for small and agile models.
And Sea-Doo did a great job filling this market gap!
Currently, you can find the Sea-Doo Spark as well as the Spark TRIXX models in this category. All of these models are powered with a 899cc, four stroke, Rotax (closed loop cooling) engine, which offers 60 or even 90 HP depending on the model.
To compete with the Spark family, Yamaha released their EX WaveRunner; if you’d like to compare these models, don’t miss our comparison post about them!
Recreation
Sea-Doo’s recreation watercraft are named the GTI series.
These models have considerably bigger hulls, as well as more weight and storage capacities compared to the Rec-Lite models.
The entry level model, the GTI 90, is powered with the 899cc Rotax engine, just like the Spark’s, while the other models come with a higher power source, namely the 1960cc 130 HP Rotax engine.
Touring
The Touring PWC category could be confusing when you see this name, as the competitor brands use the name “Luxury” for this category.
Anyway, all of these labels means the same PWC families. These models are typically the most convenient models; they have large and stable hulls which is a great on choppy water. They also have large gas tanks which is a great feature if you’re considering long tours.
Additionally, you can find many bells and whistles on these models like brake and reverse systems, large LCD screens, reboarding steps, sound systems and many others.
Sea-Doo’s touring models, the GTX family, are available with 3 engine options, 170, 230 or even with 300 HP depending on your needs!
Performance
Sea-Doo’s performance models, as the name implies, are the most powerful models in Sea-Doo’s fleet. Because the world of personal watecrafts are known for many performance-minded buyers, these models get a lot of interest year after year.
Because of this, we compared all of the Sea-Doo’s performance models here, as well as with some answers to the most common questions about them. The three Sea-Doo performance models are:

- 2023 Sea-Doo RXT-X – 300 HP
- 2023 Sea-Doo RXP-X Apex – 300 HP
When it comes to the GTR 230, it’s a common question of many buyers: Is the Sea Doo GTR 230 supercharged?
The answer is yes, the Sea-Doo GTR 230 is supercharged, as this PWC is powered by a 1630cc, four-stroke, 3-cylinder, supercharged Rotax engine, which offers no less than 230 HP!
The RXP-X and RXT-X are the bigger brothers, as you can expect amazing 300 horsepower on these models. Don’t hesitate to discover these amazing rockets here!
PWC Fishing
Sea-Doo is famous for it’s large fleet and unique models designed for special purposes.
If you are interested in PWC fishing, you can’t go wrong with the Sea-Doo Fish Pro, as this is equipped with many essential PWC fishing accessories by default.
This model has the largest and most stable hull on the market, which is a key point when you want to fish from a PWC. It’s powered with a 170 HP, non-supercharged engine.
But if you’re looking for something really huge, and you’re not afraid to purchase a vintage PWC, you can even consider a Sea-Doo LRV, as many PWC fishermen choose this old model.
Tow Sports
Beyond the fishing PWC, Sea-Doo also thought about watersport lovers, and designed a special watercraft family for tow sports.
The Sea-Doo Wake 170 is powered with a non-supercharged engine, and as its name implies it offer 170 HP. Based on many riders’ experiences, a PWC with 150-180 HP is plenty for tow sports; that’s why the Wake 170 is so popular among wakeboarders and tubers.
Are you looking for more fun and thrilling adrenaline rushes? The Wake Pro 230 is the stronger model in the Wake family, which means it comes with a supercharged, 230 HP engine.
Before you chose a PWC for tow sports, it’s wise to consider what the pros and cons are, and compare them to boats. You can also make good use of our step-by-step jet ski wakeboard guide, and the list of the essential watersport accessories.
